On a tragic Monday evening in Bessemer, Alabama, the life of Daniel Laverne Beams, a 41-year-old male, was cut short by gun violence. The shooting occurred on March 12, 2018, outside a local motel, marking a grim start to the week in Jefferson County.
Initial investigations by the Bessemer Police Department led them to a person of interest, and within a day of the fatal shooting, an arrest was made.
Lakisha Kyllingam Anslie, a 23-year-old woman, was taken into custody in connection with the incident. The investigation suggested that a dispute between Anslie and another woman escalated, leading Anslie to allegedly retrieve a firearm.
