Zach Gilbert, a 33-year-old former Auburn University football player, was found deceased in his Birmingham, Alabama, apartment on March 28, 2018. Authorities discovered Gilbert at approximately 1:40 p.m. inside his residence on the 2700 block of 11th Avenue South. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office reported that he died from a single gunshot wound, with no evidence of foul play, leading investigators to suspect suicide.
