On September 24, 2023, in Dallas, Texas, two-year-old Zyah "Tink-Tink" Lacy was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting on Hay Street near Fair Park. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. during a balloon release memorial for another family member who had been fatally shot earlier that year. During the gathering, unknown assailants fired into the assembled crowd, fatally wounding Zyah and critically injuring a 30-year-old woman named Germaine Scott.
In the aftermath of this senseless act, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) announced a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Zyah's death. Dallas Police Detective Guy Curtis, leading the investigation, released surveillance footage showing a distinctive burnt orange Hyundai, possibly a Sonata, believed to be the vehicle used by the suspects. The vehicle was occupied by at least two individuals at the time of the shooting.
Despite these efforts, as of December 2024, no arrests have been made in connection with Zyah's murder. Family members, along with Detective Curtis, continue to seek justice, urging anyone with information to come forward. Electronic billboards have been deployed to raise awareness, and the ATF's reward remains active. The community and law enforcement are steadfast in their commitment to finding those responsible for this tragic loss.
