Leon Sanders, a 24-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on the night of July 15, 2018, in Selma, Alabama. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Lauderdale Street. Sanders sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was rushed to Vaughan Medical Center by a friend, Cameron Muse, who was driving at a high speed in an attempt to get him medical attention. Unfortunately, Sanders was pronounced dead upon arrival at the emergency room.
