In the summer of 2018, a dispute in Selma, Alabama, turned fatal, ending the life of 24-year-old Leon Lamar Sanders, a male resident of the city. On July 14, 2018, at the intersection of First Avenue and Lauderdale Street, a fight is believed to have broken out between Sanders and another man. The altercation escalated tragically, resulting in Sanders being shot. He was transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
