On a crisp autumn evening in Selma, Alabama, the life of 32-year-old Devante Tashon Hall was tragically cut short. On October 18, 2024, what should have been a festive high school homecoming tailgate at Southside High School turned into a scene of violence. An argument erupted between Hall and another man, escalating to a fatal conclusion. As Hall attempted to leave the event, he was shot.
The Selma Police Department launched an investigation into the shooting.
Their efforts led to the arrest of 31-year-old Devin Walker in connection with Hall's death. Walker was subsequently charged with murder. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from the altercation that occurred during the tailgating event. Following his arrest, Walker was held without bond at the Perry County Correctional Facility.
In the wake of his untimely death, funeral services for Devante Tashon Hall were held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Camp Creek Baptist Church in Selma. He was laid to rest in the Camp Creek Cemetery.
