On April 28, 2018, 26-year-old Ernest Weaver Daniels III was fatally shot at the Raceway gas station on Highland Avenue in Selma, Alabama. Responding officers found Daniels lying near the gas pumps, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
