In the early hours of a Saturday morning, the life of 18-year-old Josiah Sanderson was tragically cut short. On February 16, 2019, outside Club Allure on Country Club Avenue in Huntsville, Alabama, a dispute escalated into fatal violence. Sanderson was shot and subsequently transported to Huntsville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The young man's death left his family and friends grieving a life lost too soon.
Huntsville Police responded to the scene of the shooting around 2:00
a.m. and quickly identified a suspect. Justen Wherry, who was 22 years old at the time, was arrested at the location. Investigators also recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the incident. Wherry was taken into custody and charged with murder in connection with Josiah Sanderson's death.
Following his arrest, Justen Wherry was booked into the Madison County Jail. The initial charge against him was murder, and he was held as the legal process began to unfold.
