In the late hours of a Monday in Huntsville, Alabama, a tragic chain of events began to unfold, culminating in the death of 23-year-old Devin Tyler McDonald. His body was discovered in a parking lot on Quality Circle on the morning of Tuesday, August 29th. He was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators quickly pieced together the timeline of McDonald's final hours.
They believe that on the night of Monday, August 28th, a man named Damon Andrew Blinks, a 28-year-old from Greencastle, Indiana, was involved in a robbery that led to the fatal shooting of McDonald. Following the incident, Blinks is believed to have fled the state in McDonald's vehicle.
The investigation led authorities to Indiana, where Blinks was taken into custody on Wednesday, August 30th. Detectives from the Huntsville Police Department's Major Crimes Unit traveled to Indiana to interview Blinks. Following their interview on Thursday, August 31st, he was formally charged with capital murder in connection with the robbery and shooting death of Devin Tyler McDonald. McDonald's vehicle was recovered in Blinks' possession at the time of his arrest.
Blinks faces additional charges from the Carmel Police Department in Indiana. He is awaiting extradition back to Huntsville to face the capital murder charge in Madison County.
