On March 15, 2019, 33-year-old Jeremy Rashad Sanders of Dothan, Alabama, was fatally shot while attempting to intervene in a physical altercation between two women. The incident occurred in the 700 block of Monroe Street. Sanders sustained a gunshot wound under his left armpit and was transported to SouthEast Health, where he succumbed to his injuries in the emergency room.
