On March 22, 2019, 33-year-old LaQuan J. Packer was fatally shot in Prichard, Alabama. The incident occurred inside a vehicle on Doris Faye Williams Street, where Packer sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including at least one to the back.
Following the shooting, authorities identified Mikel Dewayne Pettway as a suspect. Pettway turned himself in to the Prichard Police Department on April 10, 2019, and was subsequently charged in connection with Packer's death.
