Malachi Thomas McCray, an 18-year-old from Decatur, Alabama, was fatally shot on May 28, 2019, in what authorities later determined to be a tragic act of gun violence. The incident occurred at the Northwood Apartments, a residential complex located in the city. McCray was discovered in the early morning hours with gunshot wounds, and despite attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
