Kendrick Lamar Fuqua, a 41-year-old Black male from Decatur, Alabama, died on October 27, 2016, after what began as a grim discovery in the middle of the afternoon. Around 1:30 p.m. that Thursday, Decatur police were called to the 300 block of 7th Avenue Northwest after a body was reported outside a home. When officers arrived, they found Fuqua in the backyard, and the scene quickly shifted from a death investigation into something far more violent and deliberate.
