On May 9, 2021, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Decatur Police responded to a welfare check at 1220 2nd Avenue SW in Decatur, Alabama. Upon arrival, officers discovered 59-year-old Chester Lee Jordan unresponsive in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Decatur-Morgan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
