On July 13, 2019, 48-year-old African American male Johnny Hudson was fatally shot in Hope Hull, Alabama. The incident occurred when suspects opened fire into a vehicle over an unsettled debt, resulting in Hudson's death and injuries to two others, including a one-year-old child. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene, and the case was investigated as a homicide.
