In the quiet community of Salem, Alabama, a devastating event unfolded on September 21, 2019, leading to the death of 46-year-old Nancy Gail Wood, a White female. The Russell County Sheriff's Office was called to her residence, where they discovered a scene that pointed to a tragic end to a domestic relationship.
Inside the home, authorities found Wood deceased, alongside 52-year-old Ronald Thompson, with whom she lived. Investigators quickly determined that the incident was an apparent murder-suicide. It is believed that the events transpired late on the preceding Friday night or in the early hours of that Saturday morning.
According to the Sheriff, the evidence suggested that Thompson fatally shot Wood before turning the gun on himself.
