In the late hours of a November night in 2019, a dispute in the parking lot of a Mobile, Alabama bar tragically escalated, ending the life of 31-year-old Michael Beasley. On November 16, at approximately 11:54 p.m., police were called to Alabama's Bar and Lounge on Airport Boulevard in response to a fight that had broken out, followed by the sound of gunshots. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Beasley, a resident of Semmes, deceased at the scene from a fatal gunshot wound.
Another man, 21-year-old Wesley Ledbetter, was also found with a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Beasley was a beloved figure in the local racing community, known for his work as a mechanic and race spotter at tracks like Sunny South Raceway. Following his release from the hospital, Wesley Ledbetter was arrested and charged with the murder of Michael Beasley.
