On December 9, 2023, at 11:01 p.m., the Lafayette Police Department (LPD) responded to a shooting incident in progress in the 300 block of Sampson Avenue in Lafayette, Louisiana. Upon arrival, officers found one female victim, later identified as Michelle Touchet, 37, of Lafayette, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response, Touchet died at the scene due to her injuries.
