In the summer of 2014, the life of 19-year-old Valerie West was tragically cut short in Lafayette, Louisiana. On June 30, 2014, her body was discovered on the side of Gazette Road, merely a block from her home on Madame Germaine Street. An autopsy later confirmed that the young woman had sustained a single, fatal gunshot wound to the head, with the coroner describing the injury as being inflicted in a suspicious manner.
