In the early morning hours of May 15, 2021, the life of 18-year-old Jennifer Lumissa D’ene Hurst was tragically cut short in Lafayette, Louisiana. An African American female, Jennifer was discovered slumped over in a vehicle at an apartment complex in the 300 block of McDonald Street around 2:30 a.m., having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. She was rushed to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation into her death quickly pointed to her 19-year-old
boyfriend, Lucas Williams. Witnesses at the scene identified Williams as the individual responsible for the shooting. In a significant development, Williams later turned himself into the authorities.
Following his surrender, Lucas Williams was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with Jennifer Hurst's death. He was subsequently booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The case continues to be an active investigation as the legal process moves forward.
