In the early hours of a Wednesday morning in Washington, D.C., the life of a young woman was tragically cut short. On March 16, 2011, Ebony Denise Mack, a 26-year-old Black female, was found inside a residence in the 3300 block of 15th Street, SE, suffering from a gunshot wound. The call reporting the shooting came in at approximately 3:20 a.m., prompting a swift response from the Seventh District units of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Mack unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency medical services personnel quickly transported her to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save her life. Despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The cause of her death was officially ruled a homicide by shooting.
Detectives from the Homicide Branch immediately began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. In the days that followed, the Metropolitan Police Department issued a public plea for assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward. A reward of up to $25,000 was offered for any information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for her murder.
Despite the ongoing investigation and the reward offered, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in the years since her death.
