In the winter of 1978, a 33-year-old woman named Shirley Jean Maske Polk vanished from Norwood, North Carolina, leaving behind a mystery that has endured for decades. On December 26th, she was last seen in an area near the Rocky River, which serves as a border between Anson and Stanly counties. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a black jumpsuit with narrow shoulder straps and a low neckline.
