On July 4, 2020, a fatal shooting occurred at Crescent East Apartments in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, resulting in the death of 28-year-old Kevin Matthews. The incident took place around midnight during a Fourth of July gathering. An argument escalated, leading to gunfire that claimed Matthews' life and injured a 23-year-old man, who was treated at a local hospital and later released.
