On a spring evening in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 16-year-old Savion Issabell, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On April 7, 2021, Issabell was the victim of a fatal drive-by shooting in the Inglenook neighborhood. The incident, which also resulted in another teenager being injured, sent ripples of grief and concern through the community.
