On August 1, 2021, at approximately 2:03 a.m., Montgomery Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 5400 block of Atlanta Highway, situated between Carol Villa Drive and Eastern Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Jaylen Moncrief of Montgomery suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, Moncrief was pronounced dead at the scene.
