In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Washington, D.C., the life of 32-year-old Ricky Jones was tragically cut short. On May 14, 2025, at approximately 11:25 p.m., officers from the Seventh District responded to reports of a shooting in the 2400 block of Elvans Road, Southeast. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene.
Ricky Jones was found unconscious and not breathing, having sustained apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel from D.C.
Fire and EMS were dispatched to the location and rendered aid, but despite their life-saving efforts, Mr. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent was identified as a resident of Southeast, D.C.
The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the shooting as a homicide and is appealing to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible.
