On August 19, 2021, 31-year-old Jeffrey Alan Carden of Huntsville, Alabama, was found deceased from a gunshot wound on McVay Street. Authorities responded to the scene around 5:50 a.m., discovering Carden's body in a parking lot. Investigations revealed that he was picking up a coworker for work when the incident occurred, and it was determined that the crime was a random act, with no prior connection between Carden and the assailant.
