On September 26, 2021, 29-year-old Brandon Lamar Middleton was fatally shot inside the Mosses Meat Market in Mosses, Alabama. Responding deputies from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office found Middleton unresponsive on the floor; he was later pronounced dead at a Montgomery hospital due to a gunshot wound to the head.
