On November 24, 2021, 15-year-old MyQuell LaQuavian Smith was fatally shot while a passenger in a vehicle near downtown Enterprise, Alabama. Witnesses described the incident as a "running gun battle" between two vehicles that began around the Boll Weevil Monument on Main Street. MyQuell, a freshman at Enterprise High School, was an honor student and a rising star in both football and track. His radiant smile and energetic presence left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
