On April 24, 2020, 47-year-old Lawrence Davis Jr. was found deceased in a room at the Econo Lodge motel in Enterprise, Alabama. The Enterprise Police Department responded to a welfare check at the motel, where they discovered Davis's body.
Later that day, authorities arrested 21-year-old Jamal Casseem Harper in connection with the incident. Harper was charged with capital murder, with initial reports suggesting the shooting resulted from a drug deal gone wrong.
