In the summer of 2013, a night of violence in the nation's capital claimed the life of Lawrence David Phillips. A 45-year-old male resident of Southeast Washington, D.C., he was fatally shot on the evening of Tuesday, June 11th. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the 400 block of 18th Street in the Northeast quadrant of the city. In the immediate aftermath, friends rushed him to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle, desperately seeking to save his life.
