In the late evening of Tuesday, June 11, 2024, the sound of gunfire shattered the night in the 1900 block of 18th Street, Southeast, in Washington, D.C. Responding to reports of gunshots at approximately 9:57 p.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived to find a young man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as 18-year-old Dionte Alexander, a resident of Southeast, D.C. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
