In the early moments of January 7, 2022, the life of 19-year-old Delijah Davis, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Montgomery, Alabama. Police were called to the 6000 block of Cherry Hill Road, a residential area off Troy Highway, around midnight. Upon their arrival, they discovered Davis, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The initial circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately clear, prompting a thorough investigation into his death.
For several weeks, the
case remained under active investigation as law enforcement worked to piece together the events that led to the teenager's demise. The community was left seeking answers in the wake of the violence that had claimed a young life.
A significant development in the case came on January 31, 2022, when authorities announced an arrest. Al'Dreoun Harris, a 20-year-old from Montgomery, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Task Force. Harris was subsequently charged with the murder of Delijah Davis. Following his arrest, he was placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility. At the time of his arrest, officials did not release a motive for the shooting or detail the relationship between Harris and Davis.
