In the late hours of a cold Tuesday in Montgomery, Alabama, the life of 18-year-old Willie Grant was tragically cut short. On January 3, 2023, the young Black male was fatally wounded in a shooting that also left two juveniles with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident unfolded in the 3800 block of Chatwood Street, a residential area off Woodley Road, south of the bypass.
First responders and police were called to a local hospital at approximately 11:45 p.m.
following reports of multiple gunshot victims. Upon arrival, they found that Grant had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The two other victims, both juveniles, were treated for their injuries.
Despite the ongoing investigation by the Montgomery Police Department, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Willie Grant. The case remains an open and active homicide investigation. In an effort to generate new leads, Central Alabama CrimeStoppers has offered a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to the identification and arrest of the person or persons responsible for this violent act. Authorities continue to urge members of the public to come forward with any information they may have regarding the shooting.
