In the spring of 2016, a life was tragically cut short in Montgomery, Alabama. Steven O. Merriweather, a 20-year-old male, was identified as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred on a Thursday, the 5th of May. The incident that led to his untimely death took place in the vicinity of the 3800 block of Day Street.
According to official reports, the Montgomery Police Department responded to a call regarding a person being shot at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Merriweather with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Steven Merriweather succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
In the wake of the shooting, an investigation was launched by the Montgomery Police Department. The following day, a suspect voluntarily surrendered to the authorities. Kalassi Hodge, a 20-year-old resident of Montgomery, turned himself in to law enforcement officials. In connection with the death of Steven Merriweather, Hodge was formally charged with one count of murder.
Following his surrender and the charges brought against him, Kalassi Hodge was taken into custody and booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility. A bond was set at $75,000. The case then moved into the judicial system for further proceedings.
