Aaron Albright was a 24-year-old Black man from Montgomery, Alabama. His life was cut short on a Friday morning in the late summer of 2020.
On August 14, 2020, around 11:15 a.m., Montgomery police and fire medics responded to a call about a person shot in the 4900 block of Plaza Drive. The incident occurred outside at the Serenity Apartments at the Park, where police said an altercation led to a shooting. People working nearby reported hearing a series of gunshots.
Responders arrived to find three people had been shot.
Aaron Albright sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man suffered life-threatening injuries, and a woman sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The shooting was the 42nd homicide in Montgomery that year.
The Montgomery Police Department launched an investigation and quickly identified a suspect. On Monday, August 17, officers arrested 22-year-old La’Vonte Brisker, also of Montgomery. He was charged with murder in the death of Aaron Albright.
Brisker was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he was held on a $150,000 bond. As of January 2021, his case was awaiting grand jury consideration.
