On June 4, 2024, at approximately 9 p.m., 50-year-old George Elijah Jr. was fatally shot during a robbery at Tienda Los Hermanos, a Hispanic-owned grocery store located on Troy Highway in Montgomery, Alabama. Elijah, a customer at the store, was among three victims in the incident; Daniel Lopez, 20, and Romero Lopez, 43, were also killed.
