Javail Lamar Hodges, a 30-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on the evening of Thursday, April 21, 2022, in Bessemer, Alabama. The incident unfolded in the 400 block of 13th Street North, where Bessemer police officers were dispatched following a report of a person having been shot. They arrived to find Hodges suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
