In the early hours of July 12, 2022, Montgomery police responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Atlanta Highway and Perry Hill Road. Upon arrival, they discovered 19-year-old David Werking, a Montgomery resident, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. An adult woman was also found with a non-life-threatening gunshot injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
