Desanco Smith, 28, a Black male from Montgomery, Alabama, died on July 20, 2025, after suffering a life-threatening gunshot wound in the early morning hours. Just after 1:40 a.m., police and fire medics were called to the 3200 block of Meadow Lane, a residential street off Woodley Road south of the bypass.
