On June 21, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Montgomery police and fire medics responded to reports of a shooting in the 3300 block of Atlanta Highway. Upon arrival, they discovered 21-year-old Gregory Penick, a Montgomery resident, deceased from a gunshot wound. Nearby, 19-year-old Darnell Eaves, also from Montgomery, was found with life-threatening gunshot injuries. Eaves was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
