On April 7, 2024, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Montgomery police responded to a report of a shooting in the 4700 block of Mobile Highway, just outside the bypass. Upon arrival, officers and fire medics discovered 52-year-old Christopher Manuel, a Montgomery resident, deceased at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately disclosed, prompting authorities to initiate a homicide investigation.
