In the early afternoon of January 22, 2014, tragedy struck in Southeast Washington, D.C., forever altering the lives of a local family. On that Wednesday, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the sounds of gunfire shattered the routine of the day in the 1400 block of Howard Road, Southeast.
