In the evening hours of a Wednesday in Southeast Washington, D.C., the life of 26-year-old Eric Brooks was tragically cut short. On December 16, 2015, just after 8 p.m., violence erupted near 36th Place and Southern Avenue SE, leaving the young man with a fatal gunshot wound. When officers from the D.C. Police arrived at the scene in response to reports of a shooting, they discovered Brooks injured. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he did not survive.
