In the early afternoon of December 26, 2022, tragedy struck in Gadsden, Alabama, when 33-year-old Michael Douglas Martin, a Caucasian male, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 1:18 p.m. in the 300 block of Morningview Drive. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Martin with a fatal gunshot wound.
Michael, born on April 5, 1989, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, had made Gadsden his home. He was a father to his cherished daughter, Norah Rain Stem-Martin.
Known as a 'big teddy bear' who loved his family deeply, he found joy in cooking, fishing, and passionately cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. His life, however, was not without its struggles, and he often sought the counsel of his aunts.
In the wake of the shooting, the Gadsden Police Department launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event. Their inquiries led to the arrest of Robert Wilson, who was subsequently taken into custody and charged with murder in connection with Michael Douglas Martin's death.
