On a tragic Valentine's Day, a young man's life was cut short in Gadsden, Alabama. Jaden Demiere James, a 22-year-old male, was killed on Friday, February 14, 2025. The incident that led to his untimely death occurred near apartments in the vicinity of 6th Street in downtown Gadsden.
Jaden, born on November 2, 2002, was a graduate of Gadsden City High School's Class of 2021.
He had furthered his education at Gadsden State Community College, where he earned a certification as a Heavy Equipment Operator for excavators. He had plans to complete a bulldozer course in the spring. At the time of his death, he was employed at the Gadsden Walmart as a stocker and loader, with aspirations of joining their Associate to Driver Program. In his personal time, Jaden enjoyed being with family and friends, playing his PS5, basketball, drawing, and had a passion for fashion and music, including rapping.
The circumstances surrounding Jaden's death point to a violent robbery. In the course of the incident, personal items including his phone, wallet, and a bag were stolen. The investigation into the homicide led to the arrest of Jaden Fluker. Fluker has been charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting death of Jaden James during the robbery attempt. He is currently being held without bond at the Etowah County Detention Center.
The loss has deeply affected Jaden's family. His mother, Ceandra James, expressed immense grief over the death of her only son, stating that a piece of their heart has been broken and a void has been left that cannot be filled. The family is grateful for the diligent work of the Gadsden Police Department in bringing about an arrest and seeking justice for Jaden.
