On January 10, 2023, at approximately 9 p.m., Huntsville Police Department (HPD) officers responded to a call in the 200 block of Derrick Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 46-year-old Demetrius King suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy conducted by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences confirmed that King died from the gunshot injury.
