In the early evening of January 10, 2023, a sense of unease settled over Derrick Street in Huntsville, Alabama. Responding to a call, police officers arrived at a scene that would soon become the focus of a homicide investigation. They discovered a man, later identified as 46-year-old Demetrius King, suffering from a gunshot wound. Urgently, he was transported to a nearby hospital, but the efforts to save his life were in vain, and he was pronounced dead.
