In the late hours of a Saturday in Huntsville, Alabama, a dispute between brothers escalated into a tragedy that would forever alter their family. On November 23, 2019, 20-year-old Tevareus Dawon Crutcher was shot and killed during an argument. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Williamsburg Drive Northwest. When police arrived at the scene, they found Tevareus suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led to a suspect: Tevareus's own brother, 32-year-old Terryous Crutcher. He was arrested and charged with the murder of his younger brother. The news of a man being accused of killing his sibling sent ripples of shock and sorrow through the community. Terryous Crutcher was subsequently booked into the Madison County Jail.
The legal process that followed brought some measure of closure to the heartbreaking case. In a turn of events, Terryous Crutcher pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter for the death of his brother. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the crime.
