Quayshon Williams, a 29-year-old Black man from Auburn, Alabama, was known to some by the nickname "Quay." He had attended Alabama State University and was building a life for himself when it was tragically cut short in the state's capital.
On the afternoon of Monday, January 30, 2023, Williams was in Montgomery. At approximately 3:55 p.m., while he was sitting inside a vehicle in the 3500 block of Carter Hill Road, he was shot.
Montgomery police officers and fire medics were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call about the shooting. When they arrived, they found Williams suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the homicide progressed quickly. Within hours of the shooting, authorities had identified a person of interest. Police arrested Jaleel Foster, a 21-year-old from the nearby city of Millbrook, Alabama, on the same day that Williams was killed.
Foster was subsequently charged with Capital Murder in connection with the death of Quayshon Williams. He was then transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility to be held. While an arrest was made, police did not release any information regarding a possible motive for the shooting. As of February 2023, the case remained under investigation as it proceeded through the legal system.
