On August 19, 2017, 20-year-old Devontaye Reeves was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Dollar General store on Perry Hill Road in Montgomery, Alabama. Responding to reports of a shooting around 8:30 p.m., Montgomery Police and Fire Medics arrived at the scene, where Reeves was pronounced dead. The incident was one of two fatal shootings in Montgomery that weekend, prompting the police department to initiate homicide investigations into both cases.
