In the summer of 2014, the life of 27-year-old Nathan Alexander Dasher was tragically cut short in Montgomery, Alabama. On the evening of June 24th, Dasher was on Highland Avenue when he was approached by a group with the intention of robbing him. The encounter quickly turned violent, ending in a fatal gunshot wound to Dasher's neck.
The investigation into the senseless killing led authorities to identify a group of young assailants.
Among them was 17-year-old Rodrick Bagby, who was identified as the shooter. During the robbery, Bagby reportedly pointed a gun at Dasher while a 13-year-old accomplice took his credit card, demanding the PIN. In a moment of brutal violence, Bagby fired the shot that ended Nathan Dasher's life before the group fled with his cell phone.
In the wake of the tragedy, law enforcement officials were able to track down and arrest those believed to be responsible. Rodrick Bagby was subsequently charged with capital murder for his role in the crime. The legal process that followed culminated in Bagby's conviction. In December 2018, he was sentenced to 85 years in prison for the murder of Nathan Dasher. Information regarding the legal proceedings for the 13-year-old accomplice and another implicated individual, Frederick Simmons, is not as readily available.
